Educational Progression
-
At the completion of my baccalaureate education at LLUSN I plan to apply for a job at LLUMC or with another medical organization. My plan is to gain several years of hospital education which will help me to gain professional confidence and skills which will aid in my future career.

My key strengths include being able to empathize with people, see the big picture, and work well with a team. These attributes have helped me win the confidence and cooperation of my patients as well as give me a good working relationship with my colleagues. I wish to grow in my cultural, clinical, and delegation skills and look forward to how my future jobs will grow me in these areas. I also wish to grow in my ability to critically think under pressure as well as in my confidence levels with pharmacology. I see these two areas as very important to be able to think critically in a situation where I might not have time to look something up and need to make a decision or draw a conclusion based on assessment data.

I value my current education program as I have grown in professionalism and confidence due to the increased knowledge and experience I have gained through this program.

The events that led me to continue my education at LLUSN are multifaceted. I was part of a clinical program on the Pediatric units at LLUSN in the summer of 2019 which greatly increased my interest in the school and facility itself. After I graduated with my RN license, I was offered a job in Canada for the 2020-2021 school year and the online BSN through LLUSN seemed the perfect fit in order to start working but also continue my education without interruption. I value the program at Loma Linda for its educational and spiritual standards and have enjoyed my educational experience.

Items that I would include in my portfolio in the future include Continuing Education courses, future certificates, letters and notes from patients/families, reference letters, future course work, and other items that showcase my abilities and competencies as a nurse. Already included are an introduction, my resume, my goals for educational progression, my philosophy of nursing, aspects of my community service, leadership roles, memberships, and contact information.
